About Mantria

Mantria is a small app with one job. It names a feeling you couldn't quite reach, and then it steps back.
Founder
Mantria is built and operated by Alican Basak, an indie developer based in Istanbul, Türkiye. Every card you read in Mantria is written or curated by hand, then carefully extended by AI in the same voice. Replies to every email reach him directly — [email protected].
How Mantria started
Mantria began as a manifestation app. After six months of building, the founder realized that what people actually needed wasn't to chase what they didn't have — it was a name for what they were already feeling. The product was rebuilt around one bet: that being seen is what helps.
The first voice test was in Turkish, with thirty cards and ten native speakers. Ninety-five percent of them said the cards sounded like a real person who had thought about the feeling. That was enough to keep going.
What Mantria refuses to do
Mantria does not diagnose. It does not ask you to rate your day from 1 to 5. It does not pretend to be your friend. It does not use the words manifest, vibration, or universe. It does not assume what you did today.
If anything you write to Mantria sounds like a crisis, the app does not generate a response. It shows you a real hotline in your language, and it does not save what you wrote.
Why one voice
Mantria has one voice — dry, warm, literary, aphoristic. Not five tone settings, not a slider. The bet is that a coherent voice is what makes a feeling feel named, rather than algorithmically generated. Each language has its own native voice, validated separately. No machine translation between them.
Frequently asked of the founder
Why are you building this alone? Because Mantria is more about voice than about scale. A team of ten makes a product that sounds like ten people. One person can make a product that sounds like one person, and one voice is what this product needs.
How do you make money? $4.99/month or $29.99/year; the annual plan includes a three-day trial. The price covers the AI cost per user, the App Store cut, and a humble salary. No data is sold, no ads, no third-party sharing.
Why not free? Because the AI cost per user is real, and 'free' would mean either selling data or cutting the AI quality. Neither is a trade I'm willing to make. If $4.99 is hard at any point, email me — [email protected].
When you need real help
Mantria names. It is not crisis support, and it is not therapy. If you are in acute distress, please reach a real person.
